This wonderful record is perhaps a bit hard to describe This wonderful record is perhaps a bit hard to describe. It doesn’t particularly remind me of anyone else, and if I describe it as folk and/or country blues, that doesn’t begin to describe what a craftsman Fussell is when it comes to creating astonishingly accessible, engaging pieces out of what he’s dug up from the past. Sample the MP3 tracks, and you may well have to have the CD. The artwork, I would add, is also excellent. A lot of crap passes for “Americana” these days; this…

Folk and Blues to make you smile Been playing this very compelling record almost non-stop since purchase. My wife likes it too! It’s an interesting mix of old folk/blues with just the right amount of support from guitar, fiddle, organ, etc. Nice clean and bright production. Fussell’s voice is warm and winning. I don’t know why, but this record never fails to make me feel good. Love to see him live. Newport Folk Festival are you listening?

A refreshing listen Got to see Mr. Fussell play these wonderful songs this past Friday in Philly. It was just him and his guitar and he had the whole room hanging on every note. As others have stated, it’s really hard to pinpoint exactly what this music is. But that’s not really the point. It’s beautifully played. Sometimes haunting. I can’t wait to play this while camping in the mountains with a mason jar of shine.
