PaceMaker Expedition poles: Good but with some issues. –[ SEE UPDATES BELOW ]–After having returned a pair of twist-lock trekking poles, one of which did not lock at all, I decided to try these flip-lock poles for our weekend hikes. The seller was Warehouse Deals (and not Ningbo, as Amazon insists in putting on the review page I am writing). These are telescopic poles without anti-shock springs. High Quality, Low Price I hike about 2000 miles a year on steep, rocky, mountain trails and I have 4 sets of Pacemaker Hiking Poles…two sets of the lower end “twist to lock” version and two sets of this higher end “Expedition Poles”. The lower end poles are fine, but the Expedition poles are very much worth the few extra dollars. A big difference between the poles is that the Expedition has flip locks. Wow, are they nice and convenient. The inherent problem with twist lock poles is the tendency to tighten them too…

love these poles! I bought a pair of the flip lock poles to replace our older twist lock poles (not pacemakers) which had collapsed on my husband. We each use one pole but I may buy another pair so I can have 2 for really steep terrain. We could not be happier with the poles!
